History
In the fall of 1972 in Oak Creek, Wisconsin the company that would become Transport National was outlined. Initially called B&K Transportation (B&K), with the original fleet consisting of two tractors and four trailers. Success was contingent upon the dedication, hard work, and business savvy of all employees. The company credo was devoted to customer service which allowed strong growth. B&K filled the need for a quality specialized carrier in the greater Milwaukee Metro area.
Growth throughout the seventies and into the eighties was consistent when B&K hit a milestone in 1982, ownership of over 100 pieces of equipment. The dynamics of the trucking industry were rapidly changing due to deregulation. B&K felt it was time to make a change to more accurately reflect the direction of the company. In late 1982 B&K Transportation was incorporated and chose to operate under the name Transport National.
With a continued interest in growth, an expansion was planned that located two terminals in the state of Ohio. In 1983 a terminal in Cincinnati was opened and two years later another was opened in Youngstown. Over the last 15 years Transport National has also opened terminals in; Wausau, WI; Springfield, MO; and Chattanoga, TN.
The increased revenue through expansion was reinvested in the company, primarily in new equipment. Each year Transport National purchased additional equipment making it possible to move larger and heavier freight. The specialized trailers purchased were unique in that the specifications were developed to maximize the loading space allowed on a trailer. This enabled Transport National to transport much larger over-dimensional loads. In situations where other carriers would require permits and/or civilian escorts, Transport National has the equipment to avoid some of these expenses. Customers soon realized both the logisitical and financial benefits of working with Transport National.
With our unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and continued growth, Transport National is primed to become one of the nations most sought after specialized carriers.
